The platform

Hardware, software, and live telemetry. Built together.

Sensium Connect+ fleet management software, TRACKbox 4 GPS hardware, and True Path one-second telemetry. Designed in Australia, written in-house, deployed across councils, government, and commercial fleets in Australia and New Zealand.

One platform across the fleet

Mixed fleets (EV + ICE), multi-department cost-centre reporting, RFID handover, 1-second telemetry, satellite failover, in-region data, 10+ year hardware lifetimes - all from a single platform built end-to-end by Sensium.

A government fleet operating across a state — the multi-agency scale Sensium's in-house platform is built for.

The platform

Hardware, software, telemetry. All three. In-house.

Why one platform

Hardware-first. Firmware-owned. Modular software.

Vertical integration

One vendor accountable end-to-end.

When the platform is built across three layers by separate vendors, debugging anything cross-cutting takes weeks. Sensium owns the hardware, the firmware, and the software, so when you raise a question on a 1-second telemetry value, you have a single team to talk to. The integration is structural, not duct-taped.

Single point of responsibility

  • Hardware (TRACKbox 4) designed in-house
  • Firmware (True Path) written in-house
  • Software (Sensium Connect+) developed in-house
  • Hosting in Australia + New Zealand
  • Support team in Australia + New Zealand
Foreign-owned providers typically operate through reseller channels with no in-region hardware design or firmware ownership.

Core modules included

Core Sensium Connect+ modules included.

Most enterprise platforms in this category quote a base price and then add modules to the line item. Driver safety is extra. Video telematics is extra. EV-aware booking is extra. Sensium ships the platform with the core software modules included. The pricing model is straightforward, predictable, and written for your procurement team.

Connect+ modules

Eight core modules. One platform.

The Sensium Connect+ platform ships with the modules below included. The same modules underpin council, government, utility, mining, agriculture, and logistics deployments - what changes is configuration, not capability.

Module 01

GPS fleet tracking + True Path

Real-time vehicle position with one-second telemetry intervals. Most providers poll every two minutes - that is the difference between knowing where every vehicle is and where every vehicle was, two minutes ago. True Path captures the path the vehicle actually took, with route replay, geofencing, and arrival / departure events.

Module 02

Pool car management

Cross-department booking with RFID handover. EV-aware allocation. Lease-aware - the vehicle is booked back when its lease return is approaching. Built for the council and government reality of cross-team sharing.

Module 03

Driver safety + panic / duress

Lone-worker safety. Panic / duress button on the in-vehicle hardware with back-to-base alerting. Compliance with the rising bar on lone-worker regulation. Pairs with a LoRa-tethered driver pendant for off-vehicle workers.

Module 04

AI video telematics

Up to a six-camera array per vehicle. Driver-facing optional. Automatic incident detection with clip retention and chain-of-custody for evidence.

Module 05

EV + ICE fleet

State of charge monitoring on EVs. Mixed-fleet visibility on a single dashboard. Depot charging insight - which charger is busy, which is free, which is broken.

Module 06

Remote vehicle access

Lock and unlock vehicles, disable engine, all over an encrypted RFID-based connection.

Module 07

Reporting and dashboards

Utilisation reporting per cost centre, per depot, per vehicle class. Executive summaries written for fleet managers and CFOs, not for IT operators. AI-assisted insight.

Module 08

Compliance and data sovereignty

Telemetry data kept in Australia or New Zealand on local servers. Encrypted in transit and at rest. Role-based access control. Audit logs that satisfy procurement scrutiny.

Core software modules included in the Sensium Connect+ platform. Hardware, accessories, monitoring and specialist integrations are quoted as required.

Pool & shared vehicles

Cross-department vehicle sharing, done properly.

Government and council fleets sit idle for predictable stretches of the week while other teams buy more vehicles. Sensium Connect+ brings multi-tenancy, cost-centre-aware pool booking, and RFID handover together, so a vehicle used by Parks on Monday and Planning on Tuesday is booked, tracked, and billed back to the right team automatically.

Frequently asked

Platform questions buyers ask.

Answers covering scope, polling intervals, satellite, modularity, and pricing. For per-vertical depth see Industries, or Local Government & Councils for the council-specific cut.

Question 01

What is the Sensium platform?

The Sensium platform combines fleet GPS hardware (TRACKbox 4), fleet management software (Sensium Connect+), and one-second telemetry firmware (True Path). All three are built in-house. The platform serves councils, government agencies, utilities, mining, agriculture, and logistics fleets across Australia and New Zealand.

Question 02

What is Sensium Connect+?

Sensium Connect+ is the cloud fleet management software. It handles cost-centre reporting, cross-department pool booking with RFID handover, EV + ICE fleet visibility on a single dashboard, driver safety, video telematics review, and procurement-grade audit logs.

Question 03

What is TRACKbox 4?

TRACKbox 4 is the in-vehicle GPS tracking unit. Designed and manufactured in Australia. Combines 4G LTE cellular and Direct-to-Cell satellite connectivity in one device, ready to fail over to satellite automatically where the service is available. Designed for ten-plus year deployment lifetimes.

Question 04

What is True Path?

True Path is Sensium one-second telemetry firmware. Where most providers poll vehicle position every two minutes, True Path records position every second. The difference is route replay accuracy, geofence precision, faster arrival / departure events, and less noise in cost-centre and utilisation reports.

Question 05

How often does Sensium poll vehicle position?

Every second, via True Path one-second telemetry. Most competing providers poll every two minutes.

Question 06

Does Sensium do satellite fleet tracking?

Yes. TRACKbox 4 combines 4G cellular and Direct-to-Cell satellite connectivity. Direct-to-Cell is live in New Zealand and rolling out in Australia where supported by network availability and plan configuration, with Iridium satellite available for remote Australian coverage today. Where the service is available, TRACKbox 4 fails over to satellite without manual intervention when the cellular network drops out, in remote agricultural country, rural council areas, or mining sites past the nearest tower.

Question 07

Is the platform modular or all-in?

Core Sensium Connect+ software modules are included in the platform. Hardware, accessories, monitoring and specialist integrations are quoted as required, and bundling does not vary access to the included software modules.

Question 08

Where is Sensium platform data hosted, and is it kept in-region?

The platform is hosted on Google Cloud Australian infrastructure. All customer data - Australian and New Zealand - stays on Australian servers. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with role-based access control and audit logs, and the platform runs at 99.5%+ uptime.

Question 09

Is Sensium on government procurement panels?

Yes. Sensium is on the Local Government Procurement (LGP) Fleet Management Services panel for Australian councils, the Queensland QFleet Telematics Panel, and the New Zealand All-of-Government Telematics Panel. Sensium is also ORIX New Zealand's preferred telematics partner. This is what lets councils and government agencies procure Sensium without running a full open tender.

Question 10

Does Sensium provide mobile apps for the platform?

Yes. There are two free mobile apps for customers, both on iOS and Android: Sensium Connect+ for fleet managers and administrators, and Sensium Driver Connect for drivers. Driver Connect gives drivers controlled, task-specific access to bookings and trip details without exposing the broader fleet management controls.
